Costello can drive Dublin to another All-Ireland decider

It is fair to say that if Dublin progress to their second successive All-Ireland final, then the exploits of dual player Cormac Costello will have had a huge bearing on their success.

The Whitehall Colmcille player has been hugely impressive in the Dubs’ run to the last four in both football and hurling championships, 4-18 (0-4fs) amassed for the footballers following a series of exceptional displays.

However, it is in the small ball that Costello has proved most influential, particularly in his novel redeployment at midfield after a relatively subdued showing from corner-forward in Dublin’s opening round provincial loss to Wexford.

Dublin have been rejuvenated since then with successive wins over Carlow, Kilkenny and Wexford in the Leinster final helped in large part by Costello’s intelligent promptings and eye for a score.

Costello experienced the heartache of two All-Ireland final defeats in the space of a fortnight last September and his determination to go one better in 2012 has given Dublin an added dimension in both codes.
