Geezer not over-excited

Kieran McGeeney and John Doyle hang around outside the Hyde Park dressing rooms, old dogs for the hard road who won’t get too excited about the win they’ve just achieved.

For a couple of moments though, their words are a little distant as are the questions coming at them. One journalist has headphones in, others stare at Twitter on their phones. All want to know the quarter-final draw and they don’t have to wait long as first out comes Cork and Kildare — a meeting of the big screen stars and a group that had been banished to the local amateur dramatic society after poor reviews.

“They are probably the most consistent team this past three or four years,” says McGeeney.
