A qualified physiotherapist since 1997, Giles had worked with the Meath minor and U21 teams for half-a-dozen seasons before Seamus McEneaney drafted him onto the senior set-up last year but his brief has spilled beyond such narrow boundaries.

When Meath were relegated to Division 3, McEneaney made a handful of tweaks. Among them was a more hands-on role for the two-time footballer of-the-year.
