Forward thinking a winner for resurgent Royals

He may have been one of the best players of his generation but Trevor Giles was always an understated superstar and that penchant for modesty is alive and well these days as he works on the minds and bodies of those following in his footsteps.

A qualified physiotherapist since 1997, Giles had worked with the Meath minor and U21 teams for half-a-dozen seasons before Seamus McEneaney drafted him onto the senior set-up last year but his brief has spilled beyond such narrow boundaries.

When Meath were relegated to Division 3, McEneaney made a handful of tweaks. Among them was a more hands-on role for the two-time footballer of-the-year.
