The benefit of higher goalposts has been highlighted in the wake of Mayo’s disputed point in Sunday’s Connacht final.

GAA director of games development Pat Daly reiterated his research committee’s recommendation that all goalposts at all county grounds be increased to 13 metres, which is the current height of the Croke Park set, and 16 metres at top GAA grounds.

“The minimum size for a set of posts is 10.67 metres, which is the norm for most inter-county grounds,” said the Waterford man.
