Gallagher a Donegal doubt

Donegal’s preparations for the Ulster final have been dealt a blow with the news that midfielder Neil Gallagher is a serious doubt after picking up an injury in a club game.

Gallagher a Donegal doubt

Gallagher turned awkwardly on an ankle in the first minute of Glenswilly’s 1-11 to 0-8 loss against Kilcar on Saturday night. An x-ray revealed there was no break but ligament damage is suspected.

The player was on crutches as the rest of the Donegal panel trained in Letterkenny yesterday, two weeks ahead of the Ulster final against Down.

Martin O’Reilly looks likely to miss out in Clones after suffering a torn hamstring last weekend playing for his club, Sean MacCumhaill’s of Ballybofey.

Manager Jim McGuinness successfully appealed to the county board last Monday night to have the first round of the club championship, which was supposed to take place on Saturday and Sunday just past, deferred until August.
