Féile fixture-list irks Aghabullogue

Aghabullogue were last night considering their options following the weekend’s Féile na nGael camogie finals in Dublin.

The Cork side took part in Division 1 of the competition and played against Dublin’s Ballinteer St John’s, Good Counsel of Wexford and Fr O’Regan’s Craanford (Kilkenny). On Friday, following a round-robin section, Aghabullogue, Ballinteer and Craanford were all level on four points, necessitating a play-off.

Eventually Aghabullogue prevailed following a sudden-death play-off, but as only an hour and a half remained before the scheduled semi-final with Davitts, they sought a postponement until Saturday morning. This was refused and as Aghabullogue would not field, Davitts were awarded a place in the final.

Due to a further appeal by Aghabullogue on Saturday morning, the Division 1 final was deferred until 4pm, but when it eventually got underway it featured Tipperary’s Newport/Ballinahinch against Davitts, Newport/Ballinahinch eventually triumphing by 3-3 to 0-2.

Aghabullogue officials met last night to decide a further course of action.
