Wall wins it for Ballymacarbry
Held at the Clonakilty GAA Complex in Ahamilla for the second year in succession there was a redraw in the senior category, with intermediate teams Listowel Emmets and Comeragh Rangers joining the six existing teams. Group One contained Rosscarbery, Listowel Emmets, Donoughmore and three-in-a-row seekers Ballymacarbry, while Group Two saw Clonakilty, Comeragh Rangers, Mourneabbey and St Vals do battle in a series of physical encounters.
The junior competition was filled with excitement throughout the day, with both groups containing an array of talent. Group One saw Boherbue, Clonakilty, Tadhg McCarthaigh, Muintir Bhaire and Carrigtwohill fight for their semi-final places. After an enticing couple of hours of nip-and-tuck action, the two teams to progress to the final were Boherbue and Glanmire. They partook in a fantastic final with Boherbue clinching the win 3-10 to 3-4.
In the Junior Plate final, Keelnameela and Carrigtwohill went head to head, with Carrigtwohill etching out a 6-10 to 2-3 victory.
The senior category saw Clonakilty and Ballymacarbry emerge unbeaten from their groups, with both teams battling out in what was an absorbing final. A fisted point in the dying seconds from Ballymacarbry’s Linda Wall broke Clonakilty hearts, with the Waterford side clinching the coveted three-in-a-row title.
In the Senior Plate final, Mourneabbey had a comfortable 4-7 to 2-5 win over Rosscarbery.
Comeragh Rangers took the Intermediate Cup title following a 1-7 to 1-4 victory over Kerry’s Listowel Emmets.
