Russell kicked nine points, eight from frees, and was ably assisted by former county player Liam Hassett, current defender Peter Crowley, and teenager Jack O’Connor.

One note of concern for Rangers and Kerry fans was a suspected hamstring injury to Peter Crowley which resulted in his replacement five minutes into the second half.
