Galvin’s speedy return delights Horan

Limerick boss Maurice Horan has made two changes for Saturday’s Munster SFC semi-final against Clare while he is also able to call upon talisman John Galvin after the star midfielder reported fit following a cruciate ligament injury.

Galvin’s speedy return delights Horan

Horan has handed a starting championship debut to 19-year-old Ian Corbett at right half-forward in place of Eoin Barry. He is joined in the half-forward line by Stephen Kelly, who will start at centre half-forward after recovering from injury to replace Eoghan O’Connor. But the main boost for Limerick is the availability of Galvin from the bench after his season looked to be over when he suffered a knee injury against Fermanagh during the league.

“It’s a huge boost for our whole squad,” admitted Horan last night. “We’d written John off for this game to be honest. He’s done great rehabilitation to come back and get it right. It’s still a severe tear in his knee but it sums up his desire that he’s playing. John is a huge influence in our squad and it’s great to have him back in our plans.”
