Marc Ó Sé returns to the full-back line after missing the last day out with a hamstring concern, while Aidan O’Mahony comes in for Daniel Bohan at full-back.
Sheehan’s spot in midfield is taken by Seamus Scanlon, Donaghy comes in at the expense of Paddy Curtin and Shane Enright makes way for Ó Sé.
The team also shows four changes from the team that beat Cork in last year’s Munster final in Killarney.
Marc Ó Sé has two different partners in the full-back line compared to last July when he was flanked by Enright and the now-retired Tom O’Sullivan. Back then, Maher was joined by Sheehan and the currently injured Donnacha Walsh formed a half-forward line with the O’Sullivans, Darran and Declan.
Killian Young is included despite picking up an ankle injury against Tipperary as is Paul Galvin, who was also substituted early in the second half in Semple Stadium. O’Mahony’s positioning at full-back suggests he will be assigned the duty of marking Cork’s midfielder-cum-full-forward Aidan Walsh who has been stationed at the edge of the square this year.
Meanwhile, Galway manager Alan Mulholland has backed the same team that beat Roscommon for Saturday’s Connacht semi-final against Sligo. Midfielder Fionntain Ó Curraoin has recovered from an ankle injury and might be included on the bench.
Sligo have made two changes to the team that beat New York for Saturday’s game. Johnny Martyn comes in at full back in place of Noel McGuire and injured Tony Taylor is replaced by Eugene Mullen. Top forward David Kelly and veteran Eamonn O’Hara have failed to sufficiently overcome injuries to be included in the team.
Limerick will face Laois in their All-Ireland SHC preliminary round qualifier at the Gaelic Grounds on Saturday, June 23.
Wexford welcome Westmeath to Wexford Park on the same day on the other side of the draw. A week later, the winners of Limerick and Laois will enjoy home advantage for the first round qualifier against Antrim, while Carlow will have to visit either Wexford Park or Cusack Park.
