Louth and proud as O’Connor snatches it at the death

Danny O’Connor crowned a dream debut for Louth with the match winning goal and admitted “that’s the stuff of dreams”.

The little known St Pat’s clubman swooped six minutes into injury-time for a sensational game-breaking goal which stole victory from Westmeath.

But the Lake County could only have themselves to blame for not turning the screw at Pairc Táilteann. Pat Flanagan’s side struck 13 wides and rattled the crossbar in the 69th minute when they should have netted.
