Kavanagh and Shaw inspire Carlow

Carlow finished in style to overcome their Westmeath hosts in Saturday’s entertaining Leinster Minor Hurling Championship game at Cusack Park, Mullingar.

Carlow led 0-10 to 0-5 at the end of the first-half with the majority of scores arriving courtesy of Carlow freetaker Marty Kavanagh and his Westmeath counterpart Niall O’Brien.

Westmeath battled back to come within a point of the visitors but Dion Wall’s 39th minute goal again put Carlow four points clear.
