Two-goal Hornibrook Vincent’s ace

After a slow start, St Vincent’s turned up the heat in the second-half of this Cork Premier IFC game at Ballyanley on Saturday, forcing Macroom into a loser’s group meeting with Glenville in round two.

Tommy Hornibrook was the hero for the victors with his brace of goals. They took the lead following his first green flag on 35 minutes and his second next five minutes from time essentially decided the outcome.

In contrast, Macroom fell away totally after the interval. They were deservedly ahead 0-5 to 0-3 at the changeover, having won much of the breaking ball around the middle through first-half dominance from Sean Kiely and Philip Corrigan.
