Eddie Brennan has played down criticism of Kilkenny’s physicality by insisting they use adegree of cuteness.

“The reality is you play to whatever way your strengths are,” saidBrennan, who retired at the end of last year. “It’s cuteness in one sense.JJ Delaney, for example, a very intelligent player. It’s clever, it’s not stupid, it’s not dirty. He has a hurl here (motions a hurley out in front of opponent) and a little tap. It’susing your brain, using whatever way to get an advantage without itbeing illegal.”

Speaking on RTE’s League Sunday hurling debate, Brennan also dismissed Dónal ÓgCusack’s description of them as Stepford Wives.
