Carthy faces family dilemma

Brian Carthy faces a new challenge on Sunday when he commentates for RTÉ Radio One’s Sunday Sport on the Cadburys GAA Football All-Ireland U21 Final between Dublin and Roscommon from O’Connor Park, Tullamore.

Brian’s son, John Brian, will be in goal for the Dubs but any fatherly pride will be tempered by the fact that Brian’s native Roscommon are Dublin’s opponents.

With Meath legend Colm O’Rourke regularly a panellist on The Sunday Game when his son Shane lines out for Meath, Carthy won’t be the first RTÉ commentator or pundit facing the dilemma of having to comment on his son’s performance on the airwaves.
