GAA announces Electric Ireland as sponsors of Minor Championships

Electric Ireland is to sponsor the GAA All-Ireland Minor Championships for five years, up to and including 2016.

The announcement was attended by four players who have benefitted greatly from their time spent at minor level Ciaran Kilkenny (Dublin), Conor Lehane (Cork), Niall Burke (Galway) and Peter Harte (Tyrone). Dual player Kilkenny featured in both of Dublin's Minor All Ireland Finals last season and has also been approached by Australian Rules club Carlton to spend time in the AFL.

The Dubliner credited the close knit element of being involved in the minor set up saying "it's like being in one big happy family".

Also speaking at the launch was Liam Molloy, General Manager of Electric Ireland, who said: “Electric Ireland is delighted to continue our strong relationship with the GAA for the next five years through our sponsorship of the GAA Minor Championships. We are delighted to have the opportunity work in partnership with the GAA to help grow and develop this competition for our younger GAA players.

“As Ireland’s leading energy supplier, we are focused on sustainability and the future of energy in our country, much like the minor players our sponsorship will support. They are the future of the game, the raw material that keeps the game alive at senior level.”

“We look forward to working closely with the GAA over the coming months and years to really support and nurture the young players, and providing the energy and passion behind a whole new generation and future for the game in our country.”
