Fickle fans no worry for Cork
The sparse numbers of supporters and the masses of empty seats led to an eerie atmosphere in Croke Park for last Sunday week’s Division 1 football league semi-final double-header.
For the players on the pitch, it was an odd occasion, to be playing in the big house as only 11,342 patrons passed through the turnstiles. As Paul Kerrigan put it afterwards: “It was a bit surreal when you can hear the ball being kicked”.
