Shefflin to carry Olympic torch in Croker

Kilkenny’s Henry Shefflin has been chosen by the GAA as their representative to carry the Olympic torch in Croke Park in June.

He is the most decorated hurler in the modern game, with eight All-Ireland senior medals and 10 All Stars.

Cork-born Sonia O’Sullivan, the 2000 Olympic silver medallist, will be a torchbearer when she relays it around Dublin.

The 1992 Olympic gold and silver medallists Michael Carruth and Wayne McCullough will also be involved as the torch crosses the border.
