Rory ruled out for Cork U21 campaign
O’Sullivan underwent a scan on his left knee yesterday in the Mercy Hospital, Cork where scans confirmed he had suffered a recurrence of the injury. There are hopes the cruciate has not been as badly torn as before which would ensure O’Sullivan avoids a surgery, but he is definitely set to miss Wednesday week’s provincial decider against Kerry and the All-Ireland series if Cork triumph.
“It’s a very tough blow for Rory,” admitted Cork manager John Cleary last night. “He worked very hard to get back after tearing the cruciate last year and it’s devastating really that he’s damaged it again. They don’t know yet if he needs an operation, he’ll have to wait a while to find that out but he’s definitely gone for the rest of our campaign which is hugely disappointing.”
