Hannon keeps Wicklow promotion hopes alive

Tony Hannon hit 1-6 as Wicklow kept their slim promotion hopes alive.

Wicklow had a great start when Hannon converted two early 45s and then struck for a superb goal on 12 minutes.

JJ Smith opened the Carlow account on 17 minutes and went on to trail by a point at half time (1-3 to 0-5).

Early second half points from Daniel St Ledger and Brian Murphy put them ahead for the only time. A Hannon pointed levelled matters and despite the dismissal of Ciarán Hyland, they went 1-7 to 0-7 clear with nine minutes remaining. Carlow lost right half forward Brian Murphy to a second yellow card as Wicklow held on for victory with wing back Dean Healy landing their final score.
