Henry free and easy for Derry

Derry produced a fine display of first-time hurling allied to some brilliant free-taking by their right half-forward Paddy Henry to overcome Down in this Allianz NHL Division 2A game in Pairc Esler, Newry yesterday.

Their task was made all the easier as Down were reduced to 14 players on 14 minutes when corner-forward Conor Mageean received a straight red card for an incident off the ball.

Down’s Paul Braniff kept his side within touching distance as he struck 1-8.
