Sheedy boosts backroom at Clare club Newmarket

Clare senior hurling club Newmarket-on-Fergus pulled off a major coup by securing the services of Tipperary’s 2010 All-Ireland winning manager, Liam Sheedy, in an advisory role.

Sheedy boosts backroom at Clare club Newmarket

Sheedy, involved in a coaching capacity with his home club Portroe this year, has already met with the Newmarket-on-Fergus players ahead of the new season. The Clare senior hurling league campaign begins in April but Newmarket-on-Fergus have their sights firmly set on countychampionship glory. And they have enlisted the services of Sheedy in their quest to win the Clare county crown for the first time since 1981.

Newmarket-on-Fergus stand proudly on top of the roll of honour with 22 titles but lost finals most recently in 2006 and 2008. Anxious to get back to the top in Clare, club officials have pulled out all the stops to get Sheedy on board for the coming season.
