GAA president Christy Cooney has warned counties they must practice what they preach if, as is now expected, they wish the GAA’s amateur rules strictly enforced.

Cooney, who hopes to have the process concluded by the end of his term in office in April, is aware the majority of counties appear to be expressing a preference for option two in director general Páraic Duffy’s payments to managers paper, but was keeping an open mind on it.

Speaking after addressing Connacht’s agm, he said each county will have to enforce whatever they back.
