Causeway get plenty to do from Hazelwood

Causeway CS had to battle a spirited Hazelwood College’s challenge at a blustery Tournafulla yesterday.

The Kerry school needed an inspirational display from captain Daniel Collins and some top-class defending by Dougie Fitzell, Keith Carmody and Paudie O’Connor as their attack laboured to stay in the game until the final minutes.

Hazelwood, thanks to an early 1-1 from David O’Donnell, looked the most likely winners early on. However, a Tomás Casey point, followed by goals by Jason Wallace and David Goulding gave Causeway a 2-5 to 1-4 lead at the break.
