Ó Sé: Interpros mean more than International Rules

Kerry football star Tomás Ó Sé last night admitted that winning an inter-provincial championship with Munster would mean more to him than enjoying International Rules success with Ireland.

Ó Sé: Interpros mean more than International Rules

Ó Sé, who captains his province in tomorrow’s M Donnelly interpro semi-final against Leinster (Parnell Park, 2pm) gave a strong backing for the competition that is battling for survival in a crowded GAA fixtures calendar.

The An Ghaeltacht man made his comments on TG4’s Seo Spóirt last night: “It (the interpros) is a great competition. In Paddy Bán Brosnan’s pub in Dingle it is the Munster jersey that hangs on the wall not the Kerry ones.

“If all players were involved it would be stronger and maybe some managers don’t view it correctly. It’s a busy time of year with Sigerson and other competitions but Jack O'Connor has no problem with the competition and a few Kerry lads will be (with Munster).”

When quizzed by presenter Dara Ó Cinnéide on his preference for provincial or national success, Ó Sé replied: “An inter-provincial medal. I feel the International Rules are different, it is not our game whereas the inter-provincials are our games.”
