Myers ruled out for Crokes

Dr Crokes will be without defender Shane Myers for their AIB All-Ireland Club SFC semi-final againstCrossmaglen on February 18.

Crokes boss Harry O’Neill revealed Myers has broken a bone in his leg.

“We played Kerry in a challenge in Mallow and Shane got a bang into the back of the calf. He came off straight away and the nature of the injurysuggested that he had damaged his calf.

However, during the week when the injury was not improving he decided he would go for an x-ray.

He suspected there was a bit of a fracture and got it checked out at Kerry General Hospital where the found a slight fracture in a small bone at the back of his leg. We are not sure yet for how long he will be out but he will definitely miss the Crossmaglen game.”

O’Neill admits Myers will be a big loss on Sunday week. “He has been one of the mainstays of our defence over the past two seasons. Shane was out of Killarney for a few years training to be a vet and has done remarkably well to have made it back onto the team and be performing so well. To miss out on an All-Ireland semi-final is heartbreaking.”
