Ankle injury puts Meehan’s Galway future in doubt

New Galway football manager Alan Mulholland has admitted he doesn’t know if ace forward Michael Meehan will be available to him – in 2012 or 2013.

Ankle injury puts Meehan’s Galway future in doubt

Meehan, just 27, has been described as having a 50-50 chance of returning to top-flight GAA activity. Mulholland explained that the former All-Ireland U21 title winner is assessing his options as he battles cartilage problems in his ankle.

Meehan is a gifted forward but has been plagued by injuries and his luck took a turn for the worse in recent months. He made a comeback against Meath in the qualifiers last summer only to dislocate his shoulder in that game and while he’s overcame that, following surgery, his ankle still isn’t right.
