O’Sullivan bids for more glory in Beaufort battle

2011 FOOTBALLER of the Year nominee Darran O’Sullivan bids to follow in his father’s footsteps today when his club Glenbeigh/Glencar contest the Mid Kerry senior football final in Beaufort (throw-in 2.30pm).

O’Sullivan bids for more glory in Beaufort battle

O’Sullivan will be up against two former Kerry heroes — Mike Frank Russell and Liam Hassett — when Glenbeigh/Glencar face former All-Ireland club champions Laune Rangers. O’Sullivan hopes to emulate his father’s achievement, as Dad Connie was on the last Glenbeigh/Glencar team to win the divisional title, in 1975. Bidding to end a 37-year drought, Glenbeigh/Glencar will look to O’Sullivan, along with Cork championship-winning UCC forward Gavin O’Grady and Raymond O’Connor in attack, and Pa Kilkenny and Fergal Griffin in defence.

District kingpins Laune Rangers having not won this title since 2006, when they defeated today’s opponents in the final.
