Dickie calls for tougher penalties on ref abusers

A FORMER top inter-county official has called on Croke Park to rid its games of verbal abuse towards referees.

Wexford whistleblower Dickie Murphy, who recently announced his retirement from the game, said not enough is being done to protect referees.

“It’s happening in lots of games and referees are coming in for a real tough time,” stated Murphy.
