GAA president Christy Cooney confirmed the Central Competitions Control Committee (CCCC) have been asked to investigate reports of a closed season game between Roscommon and DIT in Lucan.

Stating “collective training is unnecessary at this time of year”, Cooney pleaded again for counties to respect the decision at April’s Congress to keep the closed season for inter-county teams in November and December.

The game, in contravention of the ban, is to be discussed by the CCCC, according to Cooney. He explained: “The normal request for challenge matches has to come through CCCC so it will be a matter for them to deal with it.”
