Aidan O’Sullivan’s goal mid-way through the first half brought Pearses to life after they had struggled to get to grips with their opponents. And they settled thereafter following points by Thomas Curran and Declan O’Sullivan.

Cú Chulainns, however, were not overawed and points from Ronan Henry, Michael McCourt and Niall Burns ensured they were within touching distance at the break 1-5 to 0-5.
