O’Sullivan goal swings it for Dromid

DROMID PEARSES came through a hard-fought contest with the British JFC champions Cú Chulainns in Birmingham yesterday.

Aidan O’Sullivan’s goal mid-way through the first half brought Pearses to life after they had struggled to get to grips with their opponents. And they settled thereafter following points by Thomas Curran and Declan O’Sullivan.

Cú Chulainns, however, were not overawed and points from Ronan Henry, Michael McCourt and Niall Burns ensured they were within touching distance at the break 1-5 to 0-5.

But Dromid produced a controlled second-half display and failed to allow their opponents register a score.

Marshalled ably by the O’Sullivan’s in the full-back line, they stifled the Cú Chulainn forward momentum and Kerry star Declan came into the game to influence their attacking endeavour.

Despite a total of 11 wides, Pearses found their mark with points from Niall O’Shea and James Curran.

Thomas Curran lobbed the ball over the bar from the penalty spot late on after O’Shea was grounded in the area.
