Tipp’s final form mystifies Maher

THREE months on, Pádraic Maher is still looking for an explanation for Tipp’s defeat on All-Ireland final day. The blue and gold went down fighting to Kilkenny, and Maher pays tribute to their conquerors.

“It’s very hard to explain what happened. We didn’t perform on the day. We were very flat.

“In fairness to Kilkenny they were well up for it and that showed in their performance. They played really well. But we can take positives out of it too. We didn’t perform at all and we were still there with them in the last few minutes.
