Sweet revenge for Greystones
County star Darren Hayden at centre-forward was at the heart of Éire Óg’s push for victory as they wiped out a 0-2 to 0-4 deficit at half time, and he scored the two winning points with five minutes to go.
Corner-forward Daniel Webb was also on target with his free-taking on the change over and his three points from placed balls were invaluable.
Confey were reduced to 14 men with 12 minutes left after wing-forward Joe Keogh, who was one of their stars, was dismissed on a red card. And they will also lament their shooting with several forwards ballooning wides from good positions in both halves.
However this win was a case of sweet revenge for Éire Óg, Greystones as they had been beaten by Confey in the Leinster JFC back in 2004.
