Cody adds spice to bag fundraiser

BRIAN Cody and Mel C of the Spice Girls — an unlikely combination?

Cats boss Cody has donated his All-Ireland kit bag to Self Help Africa.

The charity, which runs ‘Bag A Bargain For Africa’ fundraiser at the Ormonde Hotel, Kilkenny this weekend are delighted with the new addition to their ‘celebrity bags’ collection.

“We really wanted someone with a high profile from Kilkenny to donate a bag for this,” said Fiona Kelly from Self Help Africa. “That’s our main goal with the event, to heighten the profile of the charity. With the help of Mel C, Kathyrn Thomas and now, one of Irelands greatest hurling mangers, we hope to achieve that.”

Similar to the Mel C bag, Brian Cody’s bag will take bids from potential buyers over the weekend, the highest bid goes home with the bag.

“We have been extremely fortunate with the donations, the bags are beautiful and really high quality.

“We’ll surely get some Kilkenny hurling fans in the door now and, who knows, we may even attract a male presence over the weekend,” added Kelly.

nBag A Bargain for Africa takes place at the Ormonde Hotel, Kilkenny this evening (6-9pm) and tomorrow (2-5pm). The event is free to enter. For more information log onto www.selfhelpafrica.org.
