McCarthy and Lynch join greats

CORK hurling star Gerald McCarthy and Kerry football hero Paudie Lynch will be inducted into the Munster Council’s Hall of Fame.

The duo will be honoured at the Bord Gáis Energy Munster GAA Awards at the Malton Hotel, Killarney on December 3.

Munster Council chairman Sean Walsh said the GAA was “honoured” to select the pair.

Other 2011 winners announced are Michael Scanlon, C103 who won the Media Award; Eddie Cunningham, (Waterford) for Services to Refereeing; Willie Dowling, (Kerry) took the Services in Education for his work with Causeway Comprehensive; Gerry Bennis, (Limerick) won the award for Distinguished Service; Cork’s Patrick Kelly won the Intermediate Hurling Award and Andrew O’Sullivan (Cork) won the Junior Football Award.
