Cahalane inspires Hamilton

Hamilton High School, Bandon 2-15 Castletroy College, Limerick 1-10

HAMILTON High School, Bandon were crowned Dr Kinnane Cup (Munster Colleges U16½ B Hurling) champions at Ballyhea yesterday, brushing aside Castletroy College.

Top of both the scoring and the talent charts was undoubtedly the Hamilton full-forward Michael Cahalane. The number 14 was sensational all through and rattled in 1-10 during his man-of-the-match shift.

Cahalane came into the game carrying an injury but, in truth, it was difficult to see how it impacted on him as he dominated the whole attacking third of the pitch. The Bandon youngster was ably assisted by Luke Meade, Jerry O’Neill and Jack O’Callaghan — Meade bagging his sides other goal.

Castletroy gave it their all and were only trailing by six points at the turn (1-9 to 0-6) after playing against the strong breeze.

Left half forward Edward Doyle impressed for them — notching 0-7.

Full-forward John Nicholas and Andrew La Touche-Cosgrave also showed their wares with the latter smashing home a consolation goal late on.
