Walsh far from happy with Kerry withdrawal

MUNSTER Council chairman Sean Walsh is disappointed with Kerry’s failure to take part in the McGrath Cup.

Walsh far from happy with Kerry withdrawal

“Obviously they had their own reasons and have their own ideas on how they are going to prepare their team during next January,” said the former Kerry chairman.

“But from a Council point of view, I am very disappointed and I expressed those views at the meeting last Thursday night when we were informed Kerry were not taking part.

“I would always look at it from the point of view of the players who can’t play in the McGrath Cup because they are taking a rest or those who are playing with the Colleges.

“It gives other players who may have played well in the County Championship an opportunity to wear a Kerry jersey which is a great honour for any young footballer.

Meanwhile, former Dr Crokes and Kerry senior hurler Seanie O’Shea looks poised to take over as the county’s minor manager. O’Shea, a brother of former football manager Pat, will be officially ratified at the County Committee meeting on December 5.
