O’Donnell strike seals victory for Limerick

A BLISTERING second-half strike from Eoin O’Donnell proved the decisive score as Limerick overcame a slow start to see off Tipperary in the Vocational Schools ‘B’ inter-county football championship final at bitterly cold Mallow last night.

Star of the show for the victors was centre forward Kieran Larkin. The Coláiste Ciarán student put in a terrific display as he bagged seven points.

After 10 minutes, all sensible money would have been on the Premier County as they raced into a five-point lead with some exceptional passing moves.

Midfield colossus Ian Fahey top scored for the vanquished side with Jason Lonergan also impressing from his berth at left half-back.

The honours were well deserved by the Treaty County boys as they soaked up tremendous pressure early on and came through with a flying finish, O’Donnell bagging the vital goal.
