They will now face neighbours Corofin in the final after seeing off a Salthill side that had Stephen O’Reilly sent off ten minutes from the end.
Tuam Stars, managed by new Galway football selector Alan Glynn, will now have to face into next weekend’s county football final on the back of five games on the trot after draws in their quarter and semi-finals.
But that will be of little concern to them as a goal in the opening minute from Declan Beirne paved the way for the Stars. Jamie Murphy and Conor Doherty had Tuam well ahead before Sean Armstrong hit Salthill’s first score on 15 minutes.
Noel Henry and John Lawless sandwiched another Salthill point before Seamus Crowe struck two frees to leave Salthill 1-4 to 0-4 behind at the break.
A brace of Conor Holloran points brought them back into the game but the Stars regained control with points by Declan Beirne, Conor Doherty, Jamie Murphy and Gary O’Donnell.
O’Reilly was sent off following a melee but his side got right back into contention after county hurler Aongus Callanan kicked over two wonderful long range points.
However, a late Crowe pointed free just wasn’t enough for Salthill/Knocknacarra.
