Fitzgerald ratified as Cork minor football manager

LIMERICK senior football manager Maurice Horan is on the lookout for a new coach in his backroom team for the 2012 season after Ephie Fitzgerald was last night ratified as the new manager of the Cork minor footballers.

Fitzgerald ratified as Cork minor football manager

Fitzgerald, who played an integral role in helping the Limerick footballers reach the quarter-final stage of this year’s All-Ireland SFC, was the recommendation of the sub-committee appointed by the Cork county board to find a successor to Brian Cuthbert, who had guided the county’s minor side to last year’s All-Ireland decider against Tyrone.

Horan, who recruited Fitzgerald when appointed as Limerick boss last year, expressed his disappointment at the loss of a coach of his calibre but had no qualms with the Nemo Rangers man’s decision to take up a post with his native county.
