Moynihan set to make shock East Kerry return
The 37-year-old four-time All-Ireland winner returned to training with county semi-finalists East Kerry in Killarney last night, returning to the divisional side’s set-up for the first time since 2008.
Moynihan, a key member of East Kerry’s three-in-a-row side of the late 1990s, was approached by management after last weekend’s win over Dingle and will be in the squad for Saturday’s Fitzgerald Stadium clash with Mid Kerry.
East Kerry manager James Sheehan explained: “Seamus is playing football as good as anyone in the division at the moment. His experience of the big games will be vital in a game like Saturday. We will take any help that we can get.”
Moynihan, 38, gave a fine display in Glenflesk’s O’Donoghue Cup first round win against Kilcummin over the weekend. Meanwhile Mid Kerry’s star man Darran O’Sullivan has undergone cryotheraphy treatment in Ennis on the hamstring injury hesuffered in Sunday’s quarter-final win over Rathmore.
Meanwhile the senior county side have changed their holiday plans. Originally a two-week holiday was provisionally booked for the Kerry players, wives andpartners in South Africa at the start ofJanuary but management were in favour of a shorter period away and the players have boughtinto a five-day trip toNew York instead before Christmas.
