Hogan salvages replay for Wicklow

SUB Laura Hogan forced a replay for Wicklow in yesterday’s All-Ireland Ladies JFC final with a dramatic late equaliser.

The Tinahely player, introduced at half-time, struck the second of her two points with under two minutes remaining to deny New York a famous win. W

icklow centre forward Caoilfhionn Deeney had a chance of a winner from a free with 15 seconds remaining but pulled her effort wide.

A draw was justice for New York as the Exiles came from behind twice in the second half before edging ahead late on.

And they had an eight-point haul from corner forward Emma Clarke, who stunned Wexford in the semi-final with seven points.

But Clarke was off-target with four frees in the opening half as the sides were deadlocked on 0-5 apiece at the break.
