Luck turns at long last for driven Macauley

AFTER a season which saw him sidelined with freak injuries such as a piece of chicken getting caught in his throat and a ball breaking his finger, Michael Darragh Macauley may have feared he had broken a mirror.

The one he stares into this morning might show him bleary-eyed and displaying the effects of a monumental night of celebrations. But ultimately what he’ll see is a winner.

Asked on the pitch to articulate the triumph immediately after the final whistle, the Ballyboden St Enda’s man understandably struggled.
