O’Mullane shines as Clyda stand firm to earn semi spot

CLYDA ROVERS are just one game away from a third successive Premier IFC final after they overcame Macroom in a dour quarter-final at Donoughmore on Saturday evening.

O’Mullane shines as Clyda stand firm to earn semi spot

While there was just a score between the teams at the end, Clyda never looked like being denied passage to a semi-final clash with Béal Átha’n Ghaorthaidh, having scored all but one of their points in the first half, at the end of which they led by 0-7 to 0-2.

In the second period, solid defending from the north Cork side, exemplified by the outstanding performance of Niall O’Mullane at centre-back, did enough to frustrate Macroom. Last year’s IFC champions were generally restricted to long-range efforts, kicking seven wides for their three points.
