Tourlestrane see off the champions

JOHN QUINN’s superb stoppage-time point put Tourlestrane into a third successive Sligo senior football championship final when they finally shook off the dogged challenge of the champions, Eastern Harps, winning 0-10 to 0-9, in Saturday’s semi-final replay at Markievicz Park.

Tourlestrane see off the champions

A booming 68th minute point from Eastern Harps midfielder Tony Taylor tied the scores at 0-9 apiece and extra-time loomed after a tit-for-tat tie was dominated by the team’s accurate top scorers, Tourlestrane’s Brian Egan and Niall McGill of Eastern Harps, each of whom scored six points.

But Quinn’s nerveless finish in the third minute of added time propelled the south Sligo club into next Sunday’s county final against Coolera-Strandhill.
