MICK FITZSIMONS is about to lurch from the ridiculous to the sublime.

Last month, he was part of a Dublin defence that found itself marking one man for all bar a handful of the 70 minutes against Donegal. This Sunday, he will occupy the same airspace as Colm Cooper, Kieran Donaghy, the two O’Sullivans … and so on.

Two very different games and two very different duties. Being a corner-back was never a stroll in Croke Park but policing duty has certainly got a lot more complicated recently what with all these newfangled tactics and systems doing the rounds.
