Boylan set for return as Royals’ director of football

Board delegates will be asked this Monday to ratify the appointment of the four-time All-Ireland winning manager to the newly-created role. Boylan’s brief is believed to be an all-encompassing one, taking in development and coaching, and could have consequences for current senior manager Seamus McEnaney.

The position of the Monaghan man has weakened after the departure of his selector and coach Paul Grimley to his native Armagh last week. Statements by McEnaney’s former selectors Liam Harnan and Barry Callaghan are also expected to be read out at Monday’s board meeting, which could further damage McEnaney.
