DESSIE Farrell was not the only Dublin minor manager in a tense mood as his side sought to scramble a success in last Sunday’s All-Ireland football semi-final against Galway.

In the stands his hurling counterpart Shay Boland was watching the closing stages of the game through the cracks of his fingers, nervously praying his four dual stars would emerge unscathed ahead of tomorrow’s All-Ireland minor hurling decider. The sight of Eric Lowndes, Emmet Ó Conghaile, Ciaran Kilkenny and Cormac Costello trooping off the pitch in one piece was a relieving one.

“Every day they’re out playing, I’m worried they’ll get injured,” laughed Boland.
