Limerick and Galway boards play waiting game on future of managers

O’Grady’s Limerick lost to favourites Dublin by four points after putting up a great fight but the former Cork All-Ireland-winning manager and player has now finished his one-year term, only the i’s to be dotted and t’s crossed on his final report to the county board.

In the immediate aftermath of the loss O’Grady himself gave the first hint that he might be amenable to staying on. “I have an agreement with the county board up until September 20 — they appointed me on that date. I have reports to write, talk about the structures and make a few reports. In September my tenure is up and it would be very presumptuous of me to say anything. The county board are the people who approach the next managers and as it stands, that’s the way it is.”
