Molloy blow for Donegal

DONEGAL’S preparations for the All-Ireland quarter-finals have been dealt a blow with Dermot ‘Brick’ Molloy facing six weeks on thesideline after picking up a knee injury.

He sustained the injury while playing for Naomh Conaill in the Donegal U21 Championship on Tuesday night.

Manager Jim McGuinness confirmed the Donegal medical team were worried about the injury:“Dermot’s knee is locking and it is very, very sore,” McGuinness said.

Molloy started the preliminary round game against Antrim, but was used as a substitute in the quarter-final, semi-final and final wins. His goal late in the day against Tyrone was the catalyst for Donegal’s victory and he had been close to reclaiming his place in the starting line-up.

McGuinness already has concerns over the fitness of midfielders Kevin Rafferty and Rory Kavanagh.
